Preparing your Caravan for Spring

4 Tips to help you get your Caravan ready for Spring

It may not have felt like it in the morning frost, but Spring is on it’s way! And with Easter coming early this year you may already be planning your first caravan trip away this season.

Now is the ideal time to get your caravan serviced, but in the meantime here are some basic tips to help you on your way;
Check your tyres 
Make sure that your tyres are inflated correctly and check for any cuts, wear or bulges. The thread depth should meet legal requirements and run across the full width of the tire.
Test your handbrake
Check that your handbrake works and is capable of holding the weight of your caravan, we don’t want you rolling away in the middle of the night!
Fill your gas tank
Ensure that your gas tank is full and that the rubber hoses aren’t split or damaged. Check all of your running lights and make sure that your leisure battery is holding the correct charge.
Check your fire extinguisher
Your fire extinguisher should be in date and properly pressurised. We hope that you’ll never need it but it is also worth investing in a fire blanket in the event of a cooking fat fire.
Give your caravan a spring clean
Now is also the ideal time to give your caravan a good spring-clean. Hopefully you have already read our Checklist for preparing your Caravan for Winter Storage so you won’t need to worry about any unwanted mould or frost damage - but it is worth taking the time to give your caravan a good clean (both inside and out). Not only will this give you the opportunity to spot any minor problems before they turn into something more serious, it will also help to maintain the resale value.

We are ecstatic to share that West Country Parks have been named the Hospitality and Tourism Business of the Year at the prestigious Sedgemoor Business Excellence Awards 2024. This award is intended to recognise the Hospitality & Tourism business that is the most successful in Sedgemoor, detailing what makes them stand out from other businesses and how they attract customers to the area. We were also named as finalists for the Sustainable Business Award in recognition of our efforts to reduce our businesses carbon footprint. Speaking about the awards, Roger Smith, General Manager at the Bridgwater Chamber of Commerce, said; 'This year, we’ve received a record-breaking number of high-quality entries, leading to 67 incredible finalists. This outstanding response highlights the immense talent, creativity, and innovation within our local business community'.  We are thrilled to share that our family orientated holiday park, Riverside Holiday Village, was crowned winner of the Customer Choice Food Award for Family Fun Destinations at the staycation specialist’s 18th annual Awards – a celebration of the holiday parks, lodge resorts and boating locations in the company’s UK portfolio that have achieved the highest scores in independent guest satisfaction surveys throughout the 2024 season. Commenting after the awards were announced during a ceremony at the Hilton Metropole, in Birmingham David Tattersall, Group Manager at Riverside Holiday Village said: “It’s fantastic to be recognised for the quality of our food and it’s a testament to everyone on the team who works so hard to make sure our guests have the best possible experience when they stay with us. We are very aware that they place an enormous amount of faith in us when they choose where to go on holiday, so it’s great to know we’re getting it right." Speaking after presenting the award in front of more than 600 operators, industry suppliers and members of the Hoseasons team, Gemma Brown, General Manager at Hoseasons, said: “The team at Riverside Holiday Village are shining examples of the dedication and commitment needed to delight our guests and encourage the kind of positive reviews we know others look for when deciding where to spend their staycation.
