Help us to make our Holiday Parks ‘Heart Safe’
We would like to thank everyone who has supported our fundraising efforts this year here at West Country Parks. Thanks to your generosity we have raised over £7,500 in aid of BARB Search and Rescue, In Charley’s Memory and Hillview Juvenile Carnival Club.
This year we will be fundraising in order to raise funds to install lifesaving Defibrillators on as many of our Parks as possible.

According to the defibshop ‘over 30,000 people suffer an out of hospital cardiac arrest in the UK every year and without immediate treatment 90-95% of these victims will die’. Cardiac arrest is a condition which can affect us all, regardless of age, gender or health – although statistically men over 45 years old and women over 55 years old are most at risk.
But it’s not all doom and gloom, in the event of an attack, if CPR and defibrillation are provided within 3-5 minutes of collapse, a victim’s chances of survival can increase by a staggering 68%.
With your help, we can help to increase survival rates in our local community and make each of our Parks ‘Heart Safe’. By making a small donation to our fundraising campaign, you will be helping to protect not only us, but everyone in the local area and even yourself from cardiac arrest.
We massively appreciate your ongoing support and any donation will help us to achieve our goal.
Please keep an eye on your Parks’ Facebook page for more information about upcoming fundraising events – and if you would like to get involved please email caroline@westcountryparks.co.uk

Leading wildlife charity, Butterfly Conservation, has revealed the dates of this year’s highly anticipated Big Butterfly Count, which will take place from 18 July - 10 August. The annual citizen science programme, which is now in its 16th year, attracts tens of thousands of people out into their gardens, local green spaces or the countryside to spend 15 minutes counting butterflies and helping to track trends and inform conservation action. After declining numbers of butterflies resulted in the charity declaring a nationwide Butterfly Emergency last year, it’s more important than ever that people take part in 2025. Last summer’s Big Butterfly Count results were alarming. Overall, participants spotted just seven butterflies on average per 15-minute Count in 2024, a reduction of almost 50% on 2023’s average of 12, and the lowest in the history of the Big Butterfly Count. It was also the worst summer in the Count’s history for a number of popular species including Small Tortoiseshell and Common Blue. We are asking visitors to get involved and join us at Riverside Holiday Village near Weston-super-Mare on Thursday 1st August from 2.00pm - 2.15pm.
